Day 3: The Focus of Running:

If you haven’t watched the previous videos, you can check them out here…

Focus= Mind Management for Runners

This is the pinacle of the triad and one that is not found in training programs, ever!

Mind Management is how you become capable of reaching your goals, how you are able to show up for yourself continually, and how to build up your intrinsic cheerleader.

By managing your mind you can ditch the:

Things to closely consider:

  • How do you talk to yourself?
  • Do you compare yourself to others?
  • Do you harshly judge yourself?
  • Do you continually feel dissatisfied?

This is the Thought Model as taught by Brooke Castillo. She is brilliant and it works like a charm for running and getting your head in the game.

Thought Error:

  • C: Missed a run
  • T: I suck/I’m a loser/I’m lazy
  • F: Defeated and degraded
  • A: Don’t run later that day, procrastinate
  • R: Farther from my goal, lose trust in myself, more negative self talk

Negative thought loop

Intentional Thought:

  • C: Missed a run
  • T: Glad I have time to go later/tomorrow
  • F: Grateful for running opportunities
  • A: Go for a quick run/jog/walk
  • R: Showed up for myself, kept my promise, moving toward goals and building trust with myself

Positive thought loop
